I didnt know that rates for digital were lower than analog since the digital phones have a botton that lets them do analog too. If you go digital you only have a choice of Cellular One. Ameritech doesnt do digital. I have a few friends with digital cellphones and they claim the range in fringe areas is not as good as analog. You dont get static with digitals you just get dropouts or holes in the call and supposidly this happens before an analog call would become unusable. I suppose thats the time to push the analog button. If you want features like caller id your only choice is digital.
I have for sale two analog cell phones (Nokia car phone & Nokia flip phone) with the same cellular numbers programmed. $ 50.00 for both Regards, Lauri
The improvements in digital phones has improved about 500% in the last 6 months due to new vocoders installed in most of the leading companies mobile switches and the newer phones. I agree that the older phones do sound bad but they are not selling the old phones anymore over the counter. (At least AT&T Isnt) The new ones sound as good as analog and 99% of the time, I cant tell the difference. In the last year the digital useage has jumped to about 45%! We have been adding digital radios to our cell sites like crazy! Nokia and Ericsson, the two largest digital phone companies, cannot keep up with the current demand for digital phones. If someone tells you that the digital phones sound bad, they are probably right in some respects, they just have not heard the new ones! Or maybe your local cell provider hasnt installed the latest vocoders into their switch! The new Ericssons will not even work on the old digital systems, they switch to analog automatically if the local company h.
I have three cell phones I need to sell. They are: Nokia 2160 (digital) $50.00 Motorola Micro-tac (analog) $45.00 Motorola 8000h (older analog) $20.00 The 2160 is probably the newest and comes with one battery and AC charger. The Micro-tac has one battery and the car adapter. The 8000h has a couple batteries (unknown condition), desk charger, car adapter. All prices are negotiable Mike Tyler
I have two Tandy CT-102 analog cell phones. They are in fair condition, both work well. One is in better conditon than other. They both have the A B nam and 20 number memory . They are both 3 watt units. They are the same phone that was used as the bag phone(just add battery). They have all the mounting hardware.
